We’re proud to share our latest project, client #CoolerThanPeppermint—a bespoke kitchen and fireplace remodel in Carlsbad, California, that reflects the refined yet approachable aesthetic Rose Lake Design is known for. Rooted in natural textures, layered details, and timeless materiality, this home transformation highlights what sets us apart among San Diego luxury interior designers.

This high-end kitchen remodel in Carlsbad features natural warm oak cabinetry, a dramatic soapstone island, and warm brass accents.

A Kitchen That Balances Function and Elegance

This Carlsbad kitchen remodel was designed to serve as both a visual anchor and a daily gathering space. A custom oak island grounds the room, complemented by sculptural counter stools and a dark stone countertop that offers rich contrast. Overhead, brass disc pendant lights provide soft, ambient glow while adding an elevated sculptural element.

A full-height marble inspired backsplash with bold veining turns the range wall into a focal point, while the cabinetry’s creamy finish and fluted glass uppers bring subtle texture and polish. From layout to finishes, every design decision was made to feel intentional and timeless—hallmarks of luxury interior design in San Diego.

Thoughtful styling completes the space: dried botanicals, natural wood accents, and artisanal ceramics blend effortlessly into the neutral palette, creating a space that’s both elevated and livable.

Custom concrete work and reeded wood cabinetry create a modern yet timeless fireplace moment.

A Fireplace Reimagined with Modern Organic Character

Just steps from the kitchen, the fireplace was reimagined to reflect the same clean, curated aesthetic. The new concrete surround features simple, sculptural lines and a tactile matte finish, offering a quiet elegance that anchors the living space.

The flanking built-in was crafted in warm oak with vertical reeded detailing, creating visual texture while echoing the kitchen’s natural tones. The open shelving above is styled with curated books, sculptural ceramics, and found objects—adding a personalized, curated sensibility that is signature to Rose Lake Design’s approach.

These design choices work together to create a fireplace that is both a functional centerpiece and a statement of style which is featured in high-end residential design in San Diego.
