Welcome to Rose Lake Design

Updated: May 21, 2021

Hi everyone. I'll try and keep this short and sweet. A long time ago I was going through quite a bit of change and I started a blog. I really loved the process of creating content and having my own little corner of the internet, but over time life got busy and I stopped writing. I've been thinking about starting a blog again for quite a while, and it seems the reasons why I couldn't, always won out over the reasons why I could. But lately, the voice saying just do it, start creating again, has been getting louder and louder.

I'm not really sure where this blog will go, and I am sure it will take on it's own form in the same way that life often nudges you in the direction you need to go, even if you don't understand "the why" or "the how".

As someone who works in marketing I also tried to think about "my brand" and what that means. And to be perfectly honest I got a bit exhausted with "how are YOU different than everyone else?" What is UNIQUE about you?" Well, I am not very different than anyone else. I am a Mom, and a wife trying to balance life just like everyone else. Don't get me wrong I love a pretty design and if it helps make life easier I am all about it, but I am just like you... trying to run a home, raise a good person, be a good wife, and keep as many toys as possible out of major walkways.

So, why blog you ask? Well, I'M OBSESSED with design, and I've always been a bit of a memory collector. As a kid I would keep birthday cards and notes from friends in a journal or box, and look back at them from time to time. I love celebrating and cherishing the moment, and I have found it true that time seems to go faster and faster the older you get. So, this is my attempt at slowing things down, being present, and ENJOYING the little things. Because as one of my good friends says, it's the little moments in life that make up the big ones.

"Cultivate the habit of zest. Purposefully seek out the beauty in the seemingly trivial. Especially in the trivial. The colors and shapes of the foods you eat. The shadows a vase makes on your table. The interesting faces of the people on the bus with you." -Karen Salmansohn

Here's to cultivating the life you want in. Read along if you like. Leave me a comment or two, and I promise to support you in what makes you happy.

Cheers,

Lylah
