When the Havenlist said they would be interested in doing a feature on the work we did on our Lake San Marcos house we were more than thrilled!
The design of the ranch style lake house was one of our first projects and launched our boutique interior design studio. This project is proof that design can be found in cozy spaces. At just 1677 sq. feet, the home feels and lives much larger than what is usually perceived for its square footage.
We brought down a dividing wall between the living room and kitchen which created an open living environment while enhancing the views from the front and the back of the house. Lightened walls are adorned with vertical paneling, and light wood floors inspired by french oak span the entire home.
The finishes are a mixture of modern organic and transitional style and we did some intentional upgrades in the home that highlight the naturally good qualities of the home's foundation. We brought the kitchen tile backsplash all the way to the ceiling and added a modern electric fireplace in the living room - all designed to draw the eye up and make the space feel bigger.
Our #clientlakeshack project is proof that you can't judge a book by its cover, and with a little TLC, you can revive a once dated home. You can see the rest of the Havenlist feature on the blog, and to see where we once started take a look at some of the before and after pictures below!
Rose Lake Design was born in the pursuit of living a beautiful life, a life well lived. The San Diego based boutique interior design studio was founded by principal designer Lylah Healy. Lylah creates curated, bespoke spaces that are exclusively tailored to her client’s lifestyle.
Being a San Diego local, she is endlessly inspired by the sea and the coastal landscape of California. Rose Lake Design spaces are equal parts beautiful and livable and marry modern, organic, and traditional elements. Designs are often layered with natural elements and incorporate vintage and antique finds whenever possible. These collected finds, paired with the modern organic aesthetic of Rose Lake Design, are the hallmark style of the boutique design studio. Lylah’s style can be described as layered, fresh, textural, clean, and sophisticated with a dash of California cool.
